Position Overview
We are seeking to hire an experienced senior employment and litigation attorney to join our legal team. You will be a primary partner to the business on labor, employment, human resources, client disputes and litigation matters. You will oversee all employment and litigation matters. You will also play an important role in shaping policies and processes to help our legal and human resources department’s scale.
Primary Responsibilities

- Provide guidance on employment matters including, but not limited to wage and hour policy implications, reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, compensation plans, employee performance, separations, immigration, pay equity, and employee benefits
- Routinely partner with and provide employment counsel to human resources organization
- Manage, oversee, and develop strategy on all litigation matters at Paylocity
- Advise executive team on litigation strategy and any legal employment matters
- Manage legal professionals focused on employment, litigation, and general areas of the legal organization
- Oversee and manage administrative claims, customer claims, other claims and dispute
- Oversee regulatory, government and administrative body inquiries
- Provide counsel to sales, marketing, operations, HR and other functions as necessary
- Independently manage client disputes
- Assist in managing outside counsel budget
- Manage employee related M&A matters
- Oversee international employment-related matters
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local ordinances related to labor and employment
- Knowledge of key U.S. employment laws including, but not limited to Title VII, ADEA, FCRA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EPA, NLRA and state equivalents
- Monitor and oversee compliance with new legal developments, rules and regulations as well as industry developments and trends
- Awareness of new or pending federal and state legislation
- Manage investigations in conjunction with human resources
- Manage responses to third-party requests
- Work cross functionally with HR team to develop, update and implement employment policies
- Provide guidance on restrictive hiring covenants (e.g., non-competes)
- Proactively identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advise accordingly
- Interact with EEOC and state and local EEO agencies on employment matters
- Handle ad-hoc projects across a spectrum of complex business, legal, and strategic issues as needed
Education and Experience
- BBA / BA / BS degree required; JD required + admission to a state / DC bar
- Experience counseling on employment and labor law issues
- General litigation experience
- 10 years’ experience in employment law and litigation
Physical requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
- Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.

The pay range for this position is $164,800-$235,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
