Position Overview 

This role will be responsible for monitoring and implementing regulatory HR compliance policies, practices, and procedures. They will provide compliance advice and verify any deficiencies or gaps as various laws are updated. They will develop reports to comply with various U.S. EEO requirements as well as other state and local requirements. They will  the company’s U.S. immigration program with the advice from immigration and internal counsel.  

Responsibilities 

  • Manage the background check process for new hires and internal transfers, including criminal, employment, education, and drug screening. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison with third-party background check vendors to ensure timely and accurate results. 
  • Review background screening reports and escalate any flagged findings to the Compliance Manager in accordance with policy. 
  • Communicate directly with candidates to address documentation needs or clarify findings, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. 
  • Ensure all background processes adhere to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), EEOC guidance, and state-specific legal requirements. 
  • Liaison between Paylocity and immigration firms and agencies to oversee documentation required for employee visa application, and migration status, coordinate and be the point of contact with employees during the process. 
  • Supports global mobility functions such as I-9 reverifications, international remote work requests, and immigration-related employment verification letters 
  • Contributes to the development, review, testing, and administration of any compliance training, policy or process. Sets up and monitor acknowledgment reporting and notification process to ensure completion. 
  • Audits policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company, federal, state, or local regulations and applicable employment law. 
  • Reports to management on the compliance status on various legislation and compliance programs.  
  • Partner with the Legal department as needed to ensure overall compliance for the company. 
  • Completes data/document request from various federal and state regulatory entities.  
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in HR systems (e.g., ATS, onboarding platforms). 
  • Collaborate closely with Compliance, Talent Acquisition, and Legal teams on eligibility decisions or escalations. 
  • Track and report on key metrics such as case volume, turnaround times, and issue resolution trends. 
  • Support internal audits and continuous process improvement related to pre-employment compliance. 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal or equivalent work experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in background screening, HR operations, or employment compliance. 
  • Solid understanding of FCRA, EEOC guidelines, and background check best practices. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage high volumes and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly when handling sensitive topics. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners. 
  • Proven ability to define objectives, establish priorities, and perform multiple assignments simultaneously within defined procedures and deadlines. 
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively across the corporate management structure. 
  • Ability to research, understand and communicate complex and sometime cumbersome labor laws.

The pay range for this position is $47,800-$75,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
