Position Overview

Records month-end accruals, reviews work completed by team members, performs reconciliations, provides analysis, and works with the Manager to implement new policies and procedures. This role will be expected to work independently and communicate with the team to fully understand key areas of responsibility and ensure month-end accruals, invoices and payments are processed accurately and timely. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze A/P invoices and record month-end accruals by interpreting data and making estimates on projected anticipated expenses. Use knowledge of GAAP controls and contracts to make an educated recommendation on the estimated amount. 

• Review high volume complex invoices for accuracy and G/L Coding 

• Examine new vendor setup requests for accuracy and confirm all appropriate documentation is readily available 

• Work with manager to implement new policies and procedures to create efficiencies 

• Complete reconciliations related to accounts payable accounts

• Independently review reconciliations for completeness and accuracy. Identify any change in accruals needed and adjust journal entries as needed. 

• Complete analytical procedures by researching what happened and why. And developing a rationale for the decision and recommendations on changes needed.

• Take the lead in user acceptance testing for new AP systems and procedures. 

• Troubleshoot vendor inquiries and ensure vendor requests and payments are made timely

• Review support for audit requests

• Assist team in administering the company credit card program issuing cards and reporting purchases appropriately in the G/L

• Review vendor contracts and work with manager to record the expense appropriately 

• Provide support for the 1099 process to ensure vendor information and reportable income is reported accurately

• Other analysis and accounting projects as needed

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

• 2-3 years of corporate finance experience, exposure to a public company environment a plus 

• Previous work experience in general accounting duties, account reconciliations, A/P and general ledger 

• Intermediate to advanced level experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred

Physical requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.

• Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously. The pay range for this position is $43,000 - $60,000 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
