About the Role
At Paylocity, Senior Software Engineers are technologists who are able to help craft scalable systems that are modern and efficient. They are collaborative role models, empathetic thought leaders within and beyond their team, humble teachers, and aspiring masters of their craft! We are looking for a strong full-stack Senior Software Engineer on our Recognition & Rewards team who has a passion for building and scaling highly-available, mission-critical platforms and applications that will enable peer-to-peer and manager-to-employee recognition and rewards. Lead feature and epic design discussions, gathering and incorporating feedback from cross-functional teams
What You'll Do
- Product Engineer: Collaborate with team members and stakeholders on our greenfield project; build and deliver a top notch Recognition and Rewards experience with technologies including AWS services such as Amazon EventBridge, Lambda, SNS/SQS, and MongoDB Atlas.
- Agile Partner: Collaborate with cross functional teams and deliver meaningful iterations; leverage Agile methodologies along with CI/CD to rapidly release new features.
- Team Leadership: Actively mentor/coach less experienced team members and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.
- Operational Owner: Build and productionize highly scalable and tolerant systems using AWS; leverage internal tooling to accelerate product development cycles.
- Data Spelunker: Answer business questions and influence decisions using data; enable team members to answer questions with data that leverages quantitative and qualitative inputs.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
- Full-stack engineering experience, specifically working on highly reliable large-scale systems
- You have a proven track record of delivering high quality product features that contribute to a highly reliable cloud native enterprise level application.
- You have a quality-first mindset.
- You have a firm grasp on object-oriented analysis and design.
- You efficiently collaborate with other product engineering team members, product managers, and stakeholders to quickly iterate through requirements, and design.
- You model and inspire engineering excellence on your team and enjoy mentoring your team members.
- You design, develop, test, and operate software applications on a technology stack that includes multiple .NET Frameworks and strong C# skills, and have some experience with Messaging frameworks. You also have real world experience building applications using cloud services such as MongoDB Atlas, AWS Lambda, and AWS SNS/SQS.
- You leverage APM tools such as DataDog to ensure mission-critical applications are running optimally and respond quickly when problems arise to ensure a stable and performant client experience.

Success for a Senior Software Engineer joining our Recognition and Rewards team would involve demonstrating expertise in cloud native development and your ability to build highly scalable and reliable systems. You collaborate effectively with other team members, stakeholders, and product managers. You have a passion for mentoring and coaching less experienced team members, contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture, and inspiring engineering excellence. As a senior software engineer, you should be able to operate as an Agile partner, leveraging CI/CD methodologies to rapidly release new features, and answer business questions using data to influence decisions.
