Position Overview

The Senior Manager, People Analytics provides senior-level leadership for the People Analytics portfolio supporting the Operations organization. This role owns strategy, prioritization, and delivery for a complex, high-impact vertical, while shaping how People Analytics partners with Operations leaders to inform enterprise workforce decisions.

Reporting to the Director of People Analytics, the Senior Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy and judgment—setting the analytics agenda for Operations, owning executive-level stakeholder relationships, and ensuring analytics investments are aligned with business strategy, operational scale, and long-term capability building. This is a people and portfolio leadership role, grounded in deep practitioner expertise, with accountability for results delivered through managers and senior individual contributors.

The Senior Manager is both a thought partner and an operator: capable of zooming out to define strategy and governance, and zooming in to unblock complex work, guide solution design, and uphold rigorous standards of quality, credibility, and impact.

Why This Role Exists

As People Analytics has matured from a reporting function into a strategic capability, the Operations portfolio has evolved into one of its most complex and visible areas of demand. This role exists to provide senior-level ownership and directional leadership for that portfolio—enabling deeper alignment with Operations strategy, more proactive analytics investment planning, and consistent delivery at scale.

By elevating leadership for this vertical, the Senior Manager creates space for the Director to focus on enterprise strategy, cross-vertical integration, and external partnership, while ensuring Operations analytics are operated with rigor, foresight, and executive credibility.

Primary Responsibilities

The below represents the primary duties of the position. Others may be assigned as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Operations Vertical Ownership

  • Own the People Analytics strategy for the Operations vertical, aligning analytics investments with business priorities, operating cadence, and long-term workforce strategy.
  • Serve as the senior analytics partner to Operations leadership, shaping how data is used in workforce planning, capacity management, performance, and organizational health decisions.
  • Set and maintain the roadmap for Operations analytics deliverables, balancing foundational reporting, recurring insights, and high-impact strategic work.
  • Ensure analytics products for Operations are scalable, sustainable, and consistent with enterprise People Analytics standards.
  • Identify emerging needs, risks, and opportunities within Operations and proactively evolve the analytics approach in partnership with the Director.

People Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and develop a team of analytics practitioners, including managers and/or senior individual contributors, with accountability for both outcomes and long-term capability growth.
  • Set clear expectations for quality, prioritization, and stakeholder partnership across the portfolio.
  • Coach leaders and senior team members on judgment, influence, and decision framing—not just technical execution.
  • Partner with the Director on workforce planning, organizational design, hiring strategy, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.

Analytics Governance, Translation & Decision Support

  • Own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for Operations, from problem framing and prioritization through delivery, adoption, and measurement of impact.
  • Translate complex, ambiguous business challenges into analytically solvable problems with explicit decision logic and success criteria.
  • Set governance standards for metrics, definitions, and methodologies to ensure consistency and credibility in executive-facing insights.
  • Act as the final point of accountability for analytical rigor, accuracy, and defensibility across the Operations portfolio.

Executive Stakeholder Partnership & Influence

  • Operate as a trusted advisor to senior Operations leaders, HR leadership, and Finance partners, influencing decisions through insight rather than authority.
  • Communicate complex findings and trade-offs clearly to executive audiences, connecting analytics to business outcomes and risk.
  • Represent People Analytics in senior forums, cross-functional initiatives, and enterprise decision-making related to Operations.
  • Escalate cross-vertical implications, strategic risks, and investment decisions to the Director with clarity and recommendations.

Hands-On Leadership & Quality Oversight

  • Maintain sufficient hands-on fluency to guide solution design, review complex analyses, and intervene when work requires senior expertise.
  • Establish and enforce standards for data quality, documentation, security, and solution longevity.
  • Champion a product mindset—prioritizing reusable assets, long-term value creation, and disciplined retirement of low-value work.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, HR, Business, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in analytics, including significant depth in People Analytics or workforce analytics.
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience, including leading senior practitioners and/or people managers.
  • Demonstrated experience setting analytics strategy and delivering outcomes through others—not solely through individual contribution.
  • Proven track record of influencing senior leaders and driving adoption of insights in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Experience supporting Operations, Finance, or similarly scaled business functions strongly preferred.

Technical Skills & Leadership Competencies

  • Expert-level understanding of people data, workforce metrics, and analytical methods, with strong judgment about when and how to apply them.
  • Strong proficiency in BI and visualization tools (Power BI preferred), with experience establishing standards and best practices at scale.
  • Deep familiarity with HR systems and data integration across the employee lifecycle.
  • Ability to balance speed, rigor, and pragmatism in high-stakes environments.
  • Executive-level communication, with the ability to frame data in terms of decisions, trade-offs, and business impact.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity, paired with the discipline to bring structure and clarity to complex problems.

What Success Looks Like in the First Year

  • Operations leaders view the Senior Manager as a trusted strategic partner and advisor, not just an analytics provider.
  • The Operations analytics roadmap is clear, prioritized, and consistently executed with minimal reactive rework.
  • Analytics products supporting Operations are stable, trusted, and embedded in leadership decision-making.
  • Managers and senior ICs on the team demonstrate growth in leadership, judgment, and influence.
  • The Director’s involvement shifts primarily to enterprise strategy, enabled by the Senior Manager’s ownership of the Operations portfolio.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
  • Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
