This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from home or location of record within the U.S. with no in-office requirements.? You must be available five days per week during designated work hours.? The work arrangement for this role is subject to change based on business needs and individual performance. This may include adjustments to on-site requirements or schedule expectations, as necessary.? 


Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced compliance professional to lead and execute critical initiatives related to federal and state employer tax filings. This role is centered on strong project management, ownership of payroll tax form approval processes, and leadership of electronic filing certification and agency testing efforts. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, individual contributor who thrives in the details while driving projects forward. This individual will not only lead initial implementations but will also own ongoing compliance by tracking regulatory and form changes year-round and ensuring timely system updates. Experience with tax filing platforms and electronic filing systems is a significant advantage. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end compliance projects and tasks for federal and state payroll tax filing initiatives. 
  • Serve as the Project owner payroll tax form approval processes, ensuring all forms meet agency specifications, validation rules, and compliance requirements prior to submission. 
  • Serve as the Project owner and drive electronic filing (e-file) certification efforts, including coordination and execution of      agency testing cycles, validations, and approvals. 
  • Act as the primary liaison between compliance, engineering, and product teams to ensure approvals and certifications are completed. 
  • Take a hands-on role in reviewing form changes, validating outputs, and troubleshooting issues during development and testing cycles. 
  • Establish and maintain a structured process for tracking federal and state form changes throughout the year. 
  • Document all updates to paper forms and ensure clear communication and traceability. 
  • Monitor regulatory changes across agencies and  proactively initiate updates to maintain compliance for forms approvals and certifications. 
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve issues related to form approvals and agency testing; perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions. 
  • Maintain detailed project plans, status reporting, and documentation for all compliance and certification activities. 

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 5+ years of experience in employer tax compliance, payroll tax, or related field. 
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading complex, compliance-driven initiatives. 
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax filing, approval, and compliance processes. 
  • Hands-on experience with electronic filing systems, certification processes, and agency testing. 
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to drive execution. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with tax filing platforms or payroll systems. 
  • Background in high-volume electronic filing or enterprise-level compliance environments. 
  • Strong familiarity with agency schemas and file formats (e.g., XML, EFW2) and validation processes. 
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage end-to-end processes 
  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical teams 
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines 

Physical requirements:

· Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.

· Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.

The base pay range for this position is $63,200- $90,300/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
