The mission of the Performance and Load Testing team is to ensure the stability of the Paylocity suite by empowering product teams to measure and analyze the performance and capacity of their applications quickly and easily. The senior performance test engineer is responsible for providing load test tooling consultancy to Paylocity product teams to ensure software and systems perform optimally, meet performance requirements, and provide an excellent user experience.

Responsibilities:

· Serve as a performance testing subject matter expert in the organization and mentor junior team members

· Lead the design and support of an internally developed load testing framework that integrates with Application Performance Management (APM) platforms

· Design, implement, execute and analyze load tests for services, applications and infrastructure

· Incorporate performance evaluation into our continuous integration process, including both backend and frontend metrics

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand performance liabilities and contribute advice for improvements

· Evangelize performance testing methodologies to the rest of the organization 

· Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices


Requirements:

· Experience (5+ years) in performance and load testing complex, web-based enterprise applications

· Experience (5+ years) load testing with Apache jMeter

· Experience in designing test scenarios and load profiles based on application functionality and usage patterns

· Experience working with APM tools such as DataDog, NewRelic or AppDynamics

· Experience with SQL tuning and troubleshooting database performance bottlenecks

· Knowledge of performance testing concepts and methods as applied in a C# .NET environment

· Knowledge of infrastructure components (servers, network, load balancers, switches, firewalls, etc)

· Ability to manage performance testing on containerized applications for AWS or Kubernetes

· Experience working in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment

· Ability to interface effectively with business and technical stakeholders


Nice to Haves:

· Experience load testing web socket, database, and messaging protocols

· Advanced experience troubleshooting application performance, dashboarding and integrating with the DataDog APM tool

· Experience developing custom automation framework(s)

· Programming language knowledge (C#/.NET)

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $84,487 - $182,372/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
