Managers Engineering

At Paylocity, Software Engineering Managers are technology focused leaders that act as the bridge between an engineering team’s outcomes and the business strategies driving those outcomes. It is a critical role in our Product and Technology organization. This key role serves as manager of a team of roughly 5 - 10 engineers and is responsible for driving workstream focused outcomes in our financial domain, while working to achieve a high level of performance and efficiency. This position requires commitment to exceptional results, a strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to build a collaborative culture within the team.  

  • Own the overall health and engineering quality of the product(s) owned within a domain or function 
  • Independently lead the activities of a team towards execution on projects/goals that are often beyond the scope of immediate team 
  • Independently lead an engineering team in the development or enhancement of products, solutions, and processes 
  • Understand, facilitate, and evolve the core processes of team (development, planning, on-call rotations, bug triage, metrics review, etc.) and hold the team accountable while cultivating a healthy team environment 
  • Enthusiastic about developing the best software available and providing the ultimate customer experience 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a similar technical field 
  • 5+ years of managerial experience 
  • Fluency in C# and relational databases (SQL, NoSQL) 
  • Proficiency in AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP  
  • Help team in code reviews and make the right architecture decisions.  

Product Leaders - Sr. Group Product Managers & Group Product Managers

Our Product & Technology team is full of talented and diverse people. We work in small squads guided by our product and engineering principles. We’ve got a passion for solving challenging problems for our users. Coming together to build solutions is what makes Paylocity an exciting place to work! Our product management group focuses on our customers to guide the product lifecycle. Product Managers (PMs) rank problems to solve and verify customer impact. They work with designers on prototypes that get validated by users and stakeholders.  PMs collaborate with the engineering team to deliver and iterate on solutions. We’re looking for a Sr. Group Product Manager (Sr. GPM) to lead PMs working on our Time & Labor solutions including time management, scheduling, punching in/out. The GPM will coach their team to develop a vision for each of their products. Aligning with stakeholders and collaborating with Product peers are critical in this role. 

  • 8+ years of experience in product management in agile development environments 
  • Shown your passion for developing PMs at varying stages of their careers 
  • Demonstrated your customer-focused, outcome-driven, and data-driven mindset 
  • Developed product vision and strategy by working backwards from the customer 
  • Communicated product strategies to senior leaders and gotten buy-in on the path forward 
  • Used metrics to deep-dive into issues and uncover business-driving trends and patterns 
  • Worked in Human Capital Management (HCM) or a SaaS provider (preferred)
